Bayside Resort Fiji Our Accommodation We have two traditional thatch bures built in the style of a Fijian house. Both bures are a few steps from the beach and shielded by coconut palms to give them protection from the afternoon sun. A beachside hammock is provided for each bure. The two bures are built on individual rock foundations raised slightly from the ground. Walls are of thatch reeds bound together and lashed on to a bamboo frame using coconut string.
Bamboo walls line the inside of the bure with traditionally designed material draped along the skirtings. The high ceilings with open wooden beams are the natural air conditioners for the tropics - cool by day and warm at night. Each bure has a double bed with mosquito net, lounge chairs and table. There are two doors in the bure, one at the front, and one on the side which leads into the shared bathroom. The bathroom sits between the bure giving easy access from each. The bathroom has an outside sink and a separate flush toilet and cold water shower. |
