Bayside Resort Fiji

Meals

Meals are included in our accommodation prices and are served in our small open plan restaurant close to the beach. Breakfast is generally home baked pancakes and fruit from our gardens. We serve a light lunch and a fresh dinner, usually fish from the lagoon, vegetables from our garden and local rootcrops, rice or potatoes. We can provide vegetarion meals on prior request. We dont have elctricity at Bayside Resort so drinks are stored in our ice chest to keep them cool. You can purchase soft drinks and beer but if you want to bring your own drinks that is no problem. Water comes from our natural spring which is fed high up in the hills of Waya.

Activities

Our beachfront is one of our main attractions - it is very secluded with wonderful views across Yalobi Bay to the hills. The beach has plenty of coconuts for shade - we have hammocks for our guests - and there are are always shells the beach.

The lagoon is clear and warm and reasonable for snorkelling - its a little shallow at low tide but you can always wade 50 metres or so out to the reefs edge where there's great snorkelling. Colourful reef fish and hard corals as well as cabbage patches can be seen. For even better snorkelling we arrange boat trips to the outer reef. We have some snorkelling gear but as we are a small budget resort things can go missing or break. If you are an avid snorkeller, we suggest you bring your own snorkel, mask and fins - you can buy these in Nadi for around F$30 a set.

The beach extends for almost a mile to the northy and extends to Yalobi Village which makes a great early morning or evening beach stroll. A short 15-minute walk along the southern coast leads to a beautiful spit which connects to Waya Lailai island at low tide.

For land lovers, we have some of the best hiking in Fiji. One of the village guides will happily help you explore the island, taking in some breathtaking scenery and introducing you to village life. The village of Yalobi is a 20-minute walk along the beach and twice a week offers a traditional lovo feast and meke dancing. Guided village visits, school trips and night time yaqona drinking sessions can be arranged. We also have a spectacular hill to watch the sunset over Yalobi Bay. We can also arrange hand line fishing from our boat or one of the boys will teach you net fishing. They can also teach you about local medicines and show you our platation gardens where we grow vegetables and root crops.
